Luca's biggest career achievements so far are winning the overall UCI Short Track World Cup in 2023, with nine UCI World Cup podiums in a single season. He’s consistently among the world’s top riders over the past five years, after making a successful comeback in 2018 after nearly three years away from top-level racing during his U23 period.
Luca especially enjoys riding at home, where he grew up. While his hometown region may not offer the best trails in the world, he loves discovering his surroundings by bike. He believes that a mountain bike allows you to explore your home — wherever that may be — in the best possible way. Better than hiking, riding a road bike or driving a car. The possibilities on a mountain bike are endless. Luca’s main motivation was to become one of the best XC mountain bike riders in the world. While that hunger remains unchanged, he is now also driven by a deeper purpose: showing that simply riding a mountain bike can be incredibly fulfilling and beneficial for both body and mind. Luca makes a conscious effort to stay connected with people and topics beyond the world of professional sports. This includes contributing from an engineering perspective to the development of the best bikes in the world, as well as engaging with subjects far away from cycling.
